I was doing a study this morning on Proverbs 9......contrasting the differences between the Wise woman and the Foolish woman.....anyone have any input? It would be great to have a discussion here
I will try to add some of what the Lord shared with me later.....I believe we all have a part of the whole picture the Father is showing us, so type what you have!
Love you all and God Bless you!

Thank you JCD! Yes PRO 9 always gives us something new every time we read it, adding to what we gleaned from previous readings and discussions. One quotation about PRO 9 that always stays with me is a quotation from Martin Luther, and although it is a superficial understanding, it is Truth to the core, and in the manner he wrote the comment; I can see that folly can be of the female gender or the male gender, that folly leads us away from our Heavenly Father, and into separation from Him (folly leads to death).
"Our Joys are not the gaieties of this lower earth, but the Blessedness of the Spiritual Realm. Another voice rings in my ear - that of Folly, of Madam Bubble. It has enchantment in its dulcet tones. It promises me enjoyment more immediate, more manifest...the simple it is who is attracted to Madam Bubble like the moth to flame. He knows not that the shades are there, that her quests are in the depths of sheol..."
"Leave the simple ones and live, and walk in the way of understanding." "A foolish woman is loud, simple, and without knowledge." [If you tout yourself as being simple, be aware that the simple lacks understanding or knowledge; if we refuse to expand and learn in the Word, and read and hear others who have understanding and are wise in the Scriptures, then we become the simple one that is prey to Folly.]
"He who corrects a scoffer gets shame for himself." "Do not reprove a scoffer, lest he hate you; reprove a wise one, and he will love you." [We are not to entangle with, or accuse others of being a scoffer; it's a waste of time, energy, and knowledge, and is that of Folly.]
"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."
"Here is why wise men are the better for sharp and seasonable admonition, because the fear of the LORD is in them... "What shall we say unto my LORD? What shall we speak? How shall we justify ourselves? {1COR 14:25}. "GOD has found out the iniquity of your servants." {GEN 44:16}. "Do we have the knowledge of the Holy, that is, Of the Holy GOD and of His Everlasting Kingdom; whose knowledge is the right understanding of GOD'S Will revealed in His Word...do we have His Wisdom?" {DAN 7:22, 27; JOSH 24:19}. ~John Trapp's Comm.
"The modest, self-forgetful (the opposite of Folly), and reverent man, is the first condition winning Truth, who must be approached on genuine bended knee, recognized with a genuine humble and prostrate heart. This fear, this reverence, is the beginning of wisdom...the servants of this wisdom teach from GOD's Word - the only True and necessary, and useful knowledge." ~ Expositor's Comm. [Prudence will direct us in what to choose on all occasions to obtain Heaven; the knowledge and wisdom contained in the Holy Scriptures, and the patience thereof acquired, is what we strive to obtain in our Walk with Christ Jesus, and as sons of GOD.]

Amen!thank you Lou............i understood enough to contrast the way Wisdom looks for people to listen vs the way the foolish woman does it and the characteristics of each. but you answered what i was looking for.......what exactly makes us 'foolish'. What is it we do that causes us to be deceived and drawn into death in whatever area of our life we are having trouble in. It is our own willfulness..........OH! Like being willfully ignorant? If we are drifting away from the Word or do not express interest in our relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus and the Holy Spirit......it kind of lowers our defenses so to speak?? Like a chink in the armor? Am I understanding right?

Also wanted to add that, we as Followers and Believers in the Way of Christ Jesus, as Christians; we have to understand that the Hebrew Wisdom in PRO and ECCLES, although it is profoundly True, it is embodied in the Messiah, reminding ourselves that it comes short of the Higher Truth which has been given us in Christ Jesus.
"And a Rod shall come forth from the stump of Jesse, and a Sprout from his roots shall bear fruit. 1)The Holy Spirit of Yahuah shall rest upon Him, 2)The Spirit of Wisdom 3)The Spirit of Understanding, 4)The Spirit of Counsel 5)The Spirit of Might, 6)The Spirit of Knowledge, 7)And the Spirit of Reverence of Yahuah..." {ISA 11:1-2; ROM 15:12}
"Favour to you and Peace from Him Who is and who was and who is coming, AND FROM THE 7 SPIRITS THAT ARE BEFORE HIS THRONE." {REV 1:4}.
"I AM the Aleph and the Tau, Beginning and End, says Yahuah, Who Is and Who Was and Who Is To Come, El Shaddai." {REV 1:8}.
"I AM the Aleph and the Tau, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last." {REV 22:13}.
"All Glory, All Honor, All Wisdom, Strength, and Power, Are Yours Alone Forever, Christ Jesus!"
"GOD is the source of your life in Christ Jesus, WHOM GOD MADE OUR WISDOM, our righteousness, sanctification, and redemption." {1COR 1:30}.
"The Hebrew writer of PRO and ECCLES, under the Old Covenant, could not conceive that "FEAR OF THE LORD" might pass into full, whole-hearted, and Perfect Love. And yet it is shown that this was the change effected when Christ was of GOD "made unto us Wisdom"; it is not that the fear becomes less, but it is swallowed up in the larger and more Gracious sentiment - Love. For us that have received Christ as our Wisdom, it has become a truism, that we must Love in order to know. We recognize that the causes of things, that Wisdom remains hidden from us until our hearts have been kindled into an ardent Love towards GOD Himself; we find that even our processes of understanding are faulty until they are touched with the Divine tenderness of His Love. And from living this life and observation, we are able to say, "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of Wisdom and Knowledge", yes, but the Wisdom of Christ has led us on from fear to Love, and in the Love of Christ Jesus is found the fulfillment of that which trembled into birth through fear..." ~Expositor's Comm.
"I turned my mind, even my heart, to know and to search out and to seek Wisdom and the reason of things, and to know the WICKEDNESS OF FOLLY, even of foolishness and madness. And I found more bitter than death, the woman whose heart is snares and nets, whose hands are shackles. He who pleases GOD escapes from her but the sinner is captured by her." {ECCLES 7:25-26}. Under the New Covenant, One in the Body of Christ Jesus, we are called to always re-examine ourselves, check our heart before the Father, go continuously before our Heavenly Father, as we are all in the process of sanctification, of purification, of purging, and as we seek to learn and grow in the Word, and in our relationship with Christ Jesus, as we seek revelation, understanding, knowledge, and Wisdom from the Holy Spirit, we cannot be simple and fall prey to Folly..."For she has seated herself at the door of her house, on a seat by the highest places of the city, to call to those that pass by...Who is simple? Let him turn in here...stolen waters are sweet, and bread in secret is pleasant..."
It may be that we think we have made the right choice, or we think we have received the correct vision, or the correct answer, but we haven't if we are not using Christ Jesus' Wisdom and Knowledge and Discernment; if we are not staying in the Teachings of Christ Jesus and always in the things from Above, at His Throne, but instead, we are listening to Folly.
How do we know we have fallen prey to Folly? When there is no Peace, and chaos and uncertainty is always seated at the table, ready to speak loudly, speak foolishness, simple and without knowledge, enticing us to take the easy way and the low road, and not the Way of Wisdom..
If we have fallen prey to Folly, if we open our eyes and ears in Truth, then we would be able to see and hear the Father showing us, in His Way, or through our circumstances, that we have strayed into Folly's house, and fallen from His Path. If that is the case, we repent, listen to the Holy Spirit, and return to Walk whole-heartedly with our LORD and Savior, Christ Jesus of Nazareth and in His Wisdom.

I have another question what is that mingled wine? I have read it was spiced wine............but why is that wine good there, but we are not to mingle the Word........i brain always stumbles on that what but i haven't been able to find a teaching online or anything that makes sense of it. I know it is the Holy Spirit that teaches the Word, but I honestly have not been able to understand that part.......i read where they put spices in it back then for a purpose, but do you by any chance know about it? Thank you if you do

Amen JCD, I agree...Folly goes after "a chink in our armor"...Folly goes after a weakness..."He dies for lack of discipline, and because of his great folly, he is lost" {PRO 5:23}...
and as we we know Solomon had a weakness for woman (he had 1000, or a great many number of wives and concubines, and it wouldn't be far-fetched to think he had prostitutes too) so he uses deceitful women or harlots as a metaphor for deceit, deception, leading away from GOD, and death.
My NOAB Study Bible (New Oxford Annotated Bible) says in the comments for verses 13-18...
"Folly, in contrast to Lady Wisdom, [Wisdom the gracious hostess who has invited the unwise to her feast...7 pillars supporting the roof suggests the banqueting hall of a palatial residence (the number 7 is of GOD)...Wisdom's house PRO 8:34 is the world and the 7 pillars are the "pillars of Heaven" JOB 26:11],
Folly is a harlot, leading men to death."
"for many a victim she has laid low, yes, all her slain are a mighty host. Her house is on the way to scheol, going down to the chambers of death." {PRO 7:24-27}. "She is loud-mouthed, stupid, and without shame." Verse 17 is a popular proverb applied to adultery."
PRO 9 is a poetic allegory, using a woman, a harlot or whore called Folly (evil), and contrasting her to a woman of righteousness called Wisdom (Godliness).
As in life, a harlot or whore can ruin a man, so can the metaphorical Folly that calls us away from GOD and into the things of the world, the flesh, the carnal, which can ruin us because we will become separated from GOD (death by sin - Spiritual death)...
So, yes it is a lesson for the physical realm - men who are weak in the flesh and carnal, and can be tempted by a harlot - need to not be simple, fall prey to her enticements, enchantments, and dulce intonations...
just the same as women who are weak in the flesh and carnal, and can be seduced or bequiled by a man - need to not be simple, fall prey to his enticements, enchantments, and dulce intonations...the Truth is it applies to both men and women, it just takes on a different form but what's inside the package is the same..
It is up to us to be Wise and know our weaknesses and the "chinks in our armor" that can lead us into whoring, fornication, and adultery, both on a physical level (weaknesses of the flesh, the carnal mind, secret affairs of the heart leading to double-mindedness),
and on a Spiritual level (what leads us away from GOD whether it is a false teaching, a man-made doctrine, or planting seeds of doubt and fear with unbiblical teachings).
I agree with you JCD...we choose to hear Folly, and enter her house.......choose wisely comes to mind....may we always choose Christ Jesus...amen.

she hath mingled her wine; which also makes a considerable part in a banquet or feast, ( Esther 5:6 ) ; and the church is called a banqueting house, or a house of wine, ( Song of Solomon 2:4 ) . The love of Christ is compared to wine, ( Song of Solomon 1:2 Song of Solomon 1:4 ) ; to old wine for the antiquity of it, being more ancient than ours to him, or than ourselves, even as old as eternity; to wine, on the lees well refined, for the purity of it, being free from all motives and conditions in the creature; to strong generous wine, which exhilarates and refreshes the weak, the weary, and distressed. The Gospel of Christ is also compared to wine, ( Song of Solomon 7:9 ) ; to old wine, for the ancient doctrines of it; and to neat wine, for the purity of it; and to generous wine, for the pleasure, joy, and comfort it gives: the blessings of grace which it exhibits may be so called from their comforting and refreshing nature, which are had freely, ( Isaiah 55:1 ) ; and so are the joys of heaven, ( Matthew 26:29 ) . Now the "mingling" of this wine is in allusion to the mixture of wine, either with something richer, as spice, ( Song of Solomon 8:2 ) ; or rather with water, as Jarchi observes, which was usual in those hot countries, to make it fit and suitable drink for the bodies of men: the mixture was no doubt according to the strength of the wine; the wine of Sharon, being strong wine, was mixed two parts water and one wine F5; which, with the ancients F6, before three parts water and two wine; though, according to Plutarch F7, they had three ways of mixing, which they called by three different names; the one was three parts water and two wine, the other three parts water and one wine, the third was one wine and two water; the first of them was reckoned the best mixture F8: one Cerassus is said to be the inventor of mixing wine with water F9; others ascribe it to Melampus F11, and others to Amphictyon. And this, spiritually understood, does not design any impurity or degeneracy, such as is complained of, ( Isaiah 1:22 ) ; for the love of Christ is pure and sovereign; the Gospel of Christ is free of all mixtures of human doctrines; the blessings of grace are all of free grace, without the mixture of men's works, and so is eternal life; salvation is all of free grace, and not by works of righteousness done by men mixed with it. But this may design the various displays of the love of Christ in the several acts of it, before time, in time, and now in heaven; or the joint display of the love of Father, Son, and Spirit, in the salvation of men, and the harmony and agreement of the divine perfections therein; and the publication of the Gospel, and the accommodation of the truths of it to the capacities of men: and perhaps some respect may be had to the blood and water that issued from the side of the slain Lamb of God, here prophetically and figuratively held forth;....... That cut & paste was from Gill's Commentary on PRO 9:2... And i also found this at another website..."PRO 9:2 We see here in the MINGLED WINE, the wine that has been diluted with water for drinking in the Temple. Wine was diluted with water as much as 1 to 8 to reduce its power to intoxicate. It was mixed with spices for flavor. Unmixed wine is called strong drink. Hope that helps sistah! I would imagine, especially in the heat they would want to dilute the wine. Imagine what strong wine was made with grapes that were non-GMO, carefully harvested using the 7 year Sabbath to replenish the land, with no chemicals, insecticides, or pesticides sprayed on them! So, basically, if for the Temple and for Godly things, the wine was diluted with water and spices used to flavor, it seems. Thanks for asking because i really didn't see that...went right over it...good catch sistah Wisdom, being Godly and righteous, in her banquet would offer MINGLED WINE instead of unmixed wine...amen
