Authorities from FEMSA and Tecnológico de Monterrey announced the winners of the twenty-sixth edition of the Eugenio Garza Sada Award. The award is awarded to people and institutions that have successfully carried out projects of high social impact in the communities and that have demonstrated their social and business leadership capabilities, characteristics of the life and work of Mr. Eugenio Garza Sada.
Don Eugenio, founder of Tecnológico de Monterrey, was Chile Mobile Number List characterized by being both a successful businessman and an active promoter of the development of his community, always acting in a consistent manner, with great simplicity and enormous human quality, focused on the improvement of those who helped him. surrounded, without any distinction, proof of this is the recent Inclusion and Diversity Report of the Institution.
In this edition of the Award, the valuable work of Mr. Mario Javier Robinson Bours Almada was recognized, in the People category; from the Nutre a un Niño association, AC, in the Social Entrepreneurship category; and Ecotecnia, in the Student category.
At a press conference, Alfonso Garza Garza, General Director of Strategic Business of FEMSA and member of the Steering Committee of the Eugenio Garza Sada Award, highlighted: “At FEMSA we seek to contribute and promote development in the communities where we operate with concrete actions, and in this way way to honor the legacy of Don Eugenio Garza Sada. For FEMSA it is also very important to recognize the good actions carried out by citizens from different trenches.”
In addition, David Garza Salazar, Rector of Tecnológico de Monterrey, mentioned the importance of the Award in promoting the development of communities and the commitment that the Institution has to guarantee that students are leaders with a human sense.
In this edition, 114 proposals were received : 15 in the People category, 72 in the Social Entrepreneurship category and 27 in the Student category.
The candidates in the three categories were evaluated by a jury made up of: Eva Fernández Garza, manager of Social Investment in Early Childhood at the FEMSA Foundation; Jorge Suárez-Vélez, newspaper columnist and Managing Director of Allen & Company; and Ricardo Saldívar Escajadillo, former president and general director of The Home Depot México. In the Student category, Pablo Ayala, associate dean of Ethics and Citizenship Training at Tec de Monterrey, and the president of FETEC, Marla Rodríguez Colomo, were also part of the jury.
The Eugenio Garza Sada Prize consists of the sculpture “Inner Light” by Yvonne Domenge and a written recognition. Likewise, the winner of the People category will receive a check for 200 thousand pesos, which he will donate to a Mexican non-profit civil association that he has previously selected. The winner of the Social Entrepreneurship category receives 300 thousand pesos, and the winner of the Student category, 100 thousand pesos.
The Eugenio Garza Sada Award was established by FEMSA and Tec de Monterrey in 1993 with the purpose of perpetuating the legacy of Mr. Eugenio Garza Sada . It is awarded annually and recognizes those leading national or foreign individuals and institutions that, through social projects, contribute to the well-being of the Mexican community by promoting its development, improvement and productive capacity of its human and physical resources.
